Privacy

The short version: no account, no advertising, no profile of you. The app does send anonymous product events — whether onboarding finished, whether a daily session was completed — because we have no other way to tell if it helps. The full list is below, and none of it carries the situation you chose, the text you read, your favorites, or anything that identifies you.

The app

• No account, ever. The app works the moment you open it — no sign-up, no email, no profile.
• Anonymous product analytics. We use PostHog, hosted in the EU, with session replay, autocapture and app lifecycle events all off. It records that an event happened, not who you are: that a situation was chosen and whether it was one we had written yet, whether onboarding and daily sessions completed, whether notifications were enabled and at which hour, when the paywall was seen or dismissed, that a situation was changed, when a purchase started, completed or failed, and when a card was shared. That is the whole list.
• Which situation you chose never leaves your phone. Anxiety, chronic illness and new parenthood say something about your health, so no event carries the name of the situation you picked — not when you choose it, not when you change it, not when you finish a session. We would rather not know which one converts best than hold that on you. The affirmations you read, save, or down-rank are never sent either. There is no login to attach any of it to.
• Purchases run through RevenueCat. Its SDK is in the app to tell whether a subscription is active. It stays anonymous — no user ID of ours — and it never sees your payment details, which only Apple handles.
• No advertising, ever. No ad SDKs, no social pixels, no cross-app tracking, no data sold or shared with advertisers. We do not build a profile of you and we would have nothing to build one from.
• Everything is on-device. The affirmations are bundled inside the app, so it makes no network request to show them. Your favorites are stored on your device.
• iCloud sync is yours. If you keep favorites, they sync through your own private iCloud so a new phone doesn't lose them. That data lives in your Apple account and is governed by Apple's privacy policy; Ballast runs no server of its own and never receives it.

This website

• Cookieless analytics. The site uses privacy-friendly, self-hosted analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets no cookies, does not track you across other sites, and does not collect information that identifies you personally. No data is sold or shared with advertisers.
• No third-party trackers. No advertising SDKs, no social pixels, no cross-site tracking of any kind.
• App Store links. Links to the App Store carry campaign tags (UTM parameters) so Apple can tell us which page a download came from. These contain no personal information about you.

Children

Ballast is written for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. Since the app asks for no name, email, or age, we hold nothing that would identify a child — or anyone else.
